Communitas as a church is active throughout the week  in  community groups, serving projects and Bible studies in  Manhattan and Brooklyn. On Sundays, we gather simply to celebrate the presence and work of Jesus in our  lives and in our community. Our Sunday "Gathering" (we  prefer not to call it a service- serving is a lifestyle) is located at The Pit (People's Improv Theatre), 123 East 24th Street, between Lexington and Park Avenues.

We begin at 11:30 AM in the lower level theatre, but come early (10:30 AM) for coffee and bagels in the street level cafe. Free drinks and snacks the first Sunday of the month.

Current Series: Story- The Biblical Narrative in 10 Acts

 

Many people think of the Bible as a book of moral teachings with stories sprinkled through to illustrate the teachings. But it's a lot better than that... the Bible is a single true story with teachings sprinkled through to illustrate the story.  Tim Keller

For ten weeks we will be looking at the arc of the Biblical narrative, from the opening words of Genesis to the closing words of Revelation. Each week will be one "act" in the story, (sometimes with a few scenes). When put together, this series will provide a comprehensive overview of the story God is telling us in the pages of the Bible- and give you a greater sense of the true story you find yourself in.

These are the ways you can participate:

1. Each Sunday we will be giving a 15-20 minute message in which we retell one act of the story found in the Bible. Interaction about the content will also be a part of each Sunday morning. 2. Personal study notes will be provided each Sunday to help you dig a little deeper each day of the following week. These notes are also available on line by Sunday evening. You can find the notes by clicking here.
